bed rooms
There is a boutique hotel owner in all of us. As much as we believe there is an artist in all of us, we see Bed Rooms as a white canvas on which our desires, our our dreams and themes are being painted. A perfect image. The question remains : What is Bed Rooms?
What is Bed Rooms? What would "Bed" do for its own hotel? These are questions asked frequently by anyone who's been told of Bed Management's desire to open our own hotel brand. Before we start daydreaming about the uber-cool interpretation of the perfect boutique hotel, please read on.
“It has to be obvious and effortless.”Bed Rooms - Urban.
Bed Rooms should be located in a vibrant area. There are a lot of walkers around the hotel. Surely there are cars but you don't notice them. Everything is accessible through a few steps outside the glass door of the lobby: taxis, public transportation, shops, restaurants, art galleries... And, yes how original, our lobby looks like an art gallery - or more precisely - like a living art space where something is happening: a performance, an exhibition, a concert. The discreet staff at the reception will gladly explain to you the concept of today's show. So it has to be said, our lobby blurs the divide between performance space, bar and waiting area.
One should not be alarmed by the presence of so many outside guests. That's what we're looking for aren't we? Somehow Bed Rooms guests are the only ones able to step into the elevators and soon enough they will find privacy. The common areas and corridors are another pretext for more art -projections on the wall, sculpture, prints. Music in the corridor? Sure why not... Soon hotels will ask their guests "Music or no music?" instead of "smoking or non smoking"?.
Zap. In the room. Silence. Bright natural light, lots of it. Rich, warm textures. Nice, sexy shapes. No TV? Oh it's recessed or hidden somewhere, the staff showed the trick and know-how earlier. The entertainment system is user friendly and kind of old school (no buttons, everything is touch screen). Oops, that's not the volume level, that bring the curtains down. Good to know.
Now that's not a mini bar... that's a bar... In the cupboard: a yoga mat, 2 fisherman's pants, Bed branded of course. Bathroom looks like a zen temple, very mineral. There is music in the shower.
